  • Product Description

    Erich von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods is a work of monumental importance--the first book to introduce the shocking theory that ancient Earth had been visited by aliens. This world-famous bestseller has withstood the test of time, inspiring countless books and films, including the author's own popular sequel, The Eyes of the Sphinx. But here is where it all began--von Daniken's startling theories of our earliest encounters with alien worlds, based upon his lifelong studies of ancient ruins, lost cities, potential spaceports, and a myriad of hard scientific facts that point to extraterrestrial intervention in human history. Most incredible of all, however, is von Daniken's theory that we ourselves are the descendants of these galactic pioneers--and the archeological discoveries that prove it... * An alien astronaut preserved in a pyramid
    * Thousand-year-old spaceflight navigation charts
    * Computer astronomy from Incan and Egyptian ruins
    * A map of the land beneath the ice cap of Antarctica
    * A giant spaceport discovered in the Andes
    Includes remarkable photos that document mankind's first contact with aliens at the dawn of civilization.

  • Read it!

    I'm going to make this short and sweet because you have to get this book and read it.

    Open your mind.
  • Because there is no 0 star rating

    I read this book in the 70's and ahd a difficult time believing it as a ten year old. How anyone can view this as interesting is beyond me - remmeber the nova episode that debunked him where he admitted hiring a potter to fake some of his alien depictions?

    did he mention while at easter island he watched a group of men set up a statue that could only be moved by aliens with a block and tackle? don't waste your money

    I agree to an earlier review stating that the author leaps subject to subject. Even annoying at times. On upside of things i simply enjoy the ideas that he dredges up and the theories he propses. The author makes no attempts to over embellish his theories (no more than the scholars that Preach what so many of us have taken as granted for being facts since as early as elementary school). The Ideas are eye opening and at the very least, highly entertaining. For I to take the time to write a review for a book i read on Amazon, I know it's worth the read.

    I got this book after watching a special on Ancient Aliens. I read the book and it is very good. It gives you questions to ask yourself and doesn't try hard to make you believe in the Ancient Astronaut Theory it just makes you think a little harder about our history
  • Chariots of the Gods

    This book horrifies me. There is not one single shred of proof anywhere in it. All the conclusions he reaches are based on either an overactive imagination accompanied by psychosis or downright fraud. Instead of researching his findings he simply makes judgments on the fly that have no basis in reality. I couldn't even find this book entertaining as to how poorly it was written, how fervently he states is "facts", and the absolute lack of scientific integrity. If you really want to read it get it from a library don't waste money on it.
