Contribute to Ancient History Encyclopedia

Do you want to contribute but you don't know where to start? Below is a list of topics that need content. We need definitions, articles, timeline entries, and illustrations.

Definitions
Definitions are what you would find in an encyclopedia. They are short articles that about the general topic, covering its definition, context, background, and history. The should be factual, without opinions references, and they ideally consist of three to six paragraphs.

Timeline
Each topic should have a timeline. Depending on the breath of the topic, we should at least see two or three timline entries, and everything that is mentioned in the definition should also appear in the timeline. A wider topic, such as "Mesopotamia" should have a much bigger timeline than one on an individual person. Each timeline entry can have multiple tags, which will make it appear in multiple timelines.

Articles
Articles are much more in-depth than definitions. They should cover a very specific topic and examine it in detail, very much like a good essay. Typical topics for articles would be "The history of Assyria" or "The culture of Classical Greece" or "Warfare in Republican Rome", to give a few examples. As a general rule, all those subjects that are too narrow to have a timeline should be an article, not a definition.

Illustrations
Illustrations can be maps, photos, or drawn illustrations. If you are not the creator of the image, you must make sure that it is either in the public domain, or it can be republished under a commercial Creative Commons license. Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Flickr are good sources of such images.
